Anthem Days will celebrate its 10th anniversary this coming weekend. The annual event which takes place at the Anthem Community Park features arts, crafts, a business fair, live entertainment, carnival rides and games, a food court and beer garden and so much more.
Anthem Days takes place on Saturday, April 4th and Sunday, April 5th. However, the carnival portion of the event begins on Thursday at 5 pm.
The carnival offers thrill-seekers a host a rides and attractions including the ever-present roller coaster, Ferris Wheel, fun house and house of mirrors, as well as the carousel, train and bumble bee rides for the little ones. There will also be lots of games to enjoy, so pony up and try to win a stuffed toy for that someone special cheering you on.
The Carnival will begin at 5:00pm on Thursday and Friday, and at 1:00pm on Saturday and Sunday. It will conclude Thursday evening at 9:00pm, Friday evening at 11:00pm, Saturday evening at 10:00pm and Sunday evening at 7:00pm.
Anthem Days itself will feature many special events including new for this year – the participation of Anthem’s Service Network Organization (SNO). Located in the parking lot adjoining the Community Park, members of the charitable organizations that comprise SNO – St. Vincent de Paul, the Salvation Army, Foothills Food Bank and Happy 2 Help of Anthem – will be on-site to collect non-perishable food, diapers, formula, gently used clothing and toys, as well as monetary donations to help needy families in the area. Cash donations will be split among all the organizations.
The event will also feature a variety of contests hosted by local Anthem businesses with prizes being awarded. There will be a hoop-shooting contest hosted by OSR Physical Therapy. Daisy Mountain Kiwanis will host the Putting Contest. The Arts Council of the North Valley will be sponsoring an Art Exhibit featuring the work of Deer Valley Unified School District students with the winner of the art exhibit being announced on April 5th at 4:00pm.
As always, there will be plenty of things for the little ones to do during Anthem Days. Unlimited, “all-you-can-ride” and “all-you-can-bounce” bracelets can be purchased for just $5 to enjoy pony and barrel rides and bouncy houses. The annual “Egg-stravaganza,” which includes the Egg Hunt, the Hippity Hop Band and a visit from Peter Cottontail will take place on Sunday, April 5th. Thousands of eggs – and the treats found inside them – are up for grabs. Additionally Mother Nature (aka child entertainer Persephone) will entertain the little ones as they scurry around collecting eggs.
This year, two new bands will entertain hungry and thirsty revelers in the Food Court and Beer Garden sponsored by the Anthem Rotary. On Saturday, the sounds of the Caribbean will pervade Anthem when Island Steel, a steel drum band, hits the stage. The Big Bang will take listeners on a pleasant trip down Memory Lane on Sunday with its renditions of blues and oldies classics. Bands will perform from 11:00am to 5:00pm.
